‘Have Mercy on Me!’ – Mark 10:46-47

Then they reached Jericho, and as Jesus and his disciples left town, a large crowd followed him. A blind beggar named Bartimaeus (son of Timaeus) was sitting beside the road. When Bartimaeus heard that Jesus of Nazareth was nearby, he began to shout, “Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!”

Mark 10:46-47 NLT

Key Thought

So often we let pride and social convention keep us from asking God for what we most need from him and what he is often most willing to give us — mercy. Let’s not be shamed into silence. We know we need mercy, grace, and forgiveness, so let’s not be shy about humbly asking for it from our generous and loving Father.

Today’s Prayer

O Father, without your mercy and grace I would surely fail to find my way into your holy presence. Thank you for lavishing your gifts of grace and the Holy Spirit on me. Let me never forget your mercy, love, and grace. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
