[After the story of the dishonest manager, Jesus continued,] “If you are faithful in little things, you will be faithful in large ones. But if you are dishonest in little things, you won’t be honest with greater responsibilities. And if you are untrustworthy about worldly wealth, who will trust you with the true riches of heaven?”
Key Thought
“It’s just a little thing. It doesn’t hurt if I fudge a little, does it?” Jesus says, “Yes, it does matter.” Why? Because faithfulness to our LORD and to our values includes integrity and honesty, regardless of the value of something or the type of activity. Faithfulness in small as well as large things, including matters involving money, is an essential part of what reveals the truth about our authenticity integrity as disciples. What we do with a little reveals a great deal about what we will do with much.
Today’s Prayer
Father, help me as I seek to be a good steward with your blessings. Keep my heart pure in matters big and small. May my words, actions, choices, and thoughts all reflect your holy character and your freely-given grace. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
