‘Hidden Power’ – Matthew 13:33

Jesus also used this illustration: “The Kingdom of Heaven is like the yeast a woman used in making bread. Even though she put only a little yeast in three measures of flour, it permeated every part of the dough.”

Matthew 13:33 NLT

Key Thought

Once again, Jesus’ point is that despite the small beginnings and insignificant size of his Kingdom at its beginning, it will spread pervasively until it eventually makes a direct impact throughout the world! Jesus purposely starts his Kingdom small. There is no press corps or entourage. Jesus uses no spin doctor. He doesn’t want folks going around making wild claims about him. He is careful to reveal the full truth of the Kingdom only to his disciples. But over time, his Kingdom will have great power and will impact many lives. Its influence will permeate throughout the world. While his disciples must believe this in faith, they will experience it in mission!

Today’s Prayer

Almighty Father, please give me eyes to see and ears to hear what you are doing in the world by influencing it through your Kingdom family. Help my influence to be a blessing to others who are searching for you and your Kingdom. I trust that while many in my time and culture do not fully acknowledge you as Sovereign in their lives, one day they will. Help me be a part of welcoming that day. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
