What We Do
Church Purpose
Our purpose at our Bible base church is to get people to be like Christ and turn from that which is contrary to Him. We would like very much to lead others to make Christ the foundation of their lives. We would like to show Jesus as a faithful friend, a loyal companion, as someone who will stand by our side when no one else will.
As a body of Bible based Christian believers, we see our whole purpose as doing the will of God so that His Spirit might be manifested in our midst. With His hand we hope to convince others that Christ is our Lord and Savior. We want to show that if we trust in Him, He will very clearly show us that He is who He claims to be.– a Provider who can supply whatever we need whenever we need it under any and all circumstances, a Physician with no limitations in His healing power, a Counselor with infinite understanding and wisdom. We would very much like to reflect Christ in our midst as the Good Shepherd (Psalms 23 and John 10:1:18), as the one and only way to God, our Father in heaven.
Consequently, our Bible based churches goal is to get others to see the love of God and act accordingly. Undoubtedly God wants us to do His will but He wants it to be done out of love. God wants us to serve Him not because we have too but because we want too. God wants us to serve Him because we see Him as He is. He wants us to do His will because we see that doing His will is for out good. This is the purpose of our church and the platform on which it stands. We want to weld together a body of believers who love Jesus Christ so much that they want to be just like Him.
What Jesus Did
‘The People Lost in the Credits’ – Matthew 1:11-17
Josiah was the father of Jehoiachin and his brothers (born at the time of the exile to Babylon).
After the Babylonian exile:
Jehoiachin was the father of Shealtiel.
Shealtiel was the father of Zerubbabel.
Zerubbabel was the father of Abiud.
Abiud was the father of Eliakim.
Eliakim was the father of Azor.
Azor was the father of Zadok.
Zadok was the father of Akim.
Akim was the father of Eliud.
Eliud was the father of Eleazar.
Eleazar was the father of Matthan.
Matthan was the father of Jacob.
Jacob was the father of Joseph, the husband of Mary.
Mary gave birth to Jesus, who is called the Messiah.
All those listed above include fourteen generations from Abraham to David, fourteen from David to the Babylonian exile, and fourteen from the Babylonian exile to the Messiah.
Key Thought
In every great movie, there are the marquee stars that are almost as important as the motion picture show itself. Then, at the end of the movie, many credits are listed for actors and “hands” who have helped make the movie possible. They are what I call the “people lost in the credits.” Without them, the movie would not be the same and very likely would have never been possible to make. Similarly, the names in this list of folks in Jesus’ genealogy are not as familiar to us as many of the names in the earlier part of the list. Yet each person had a role to play and was a vital link in the coming of God’s Messiah. While our role may not seem very large compared to others, God can make it important if we will give ourselves to serve him faithfully. To God, we will not be “people lost in the credits” but his children and therefore siblings of God’s great and holy King!
Today’s Prayer
Marvelous and majestic God, you obviously love variety since you created so many different kinds of almost everything. I know that you uniquely made me and gave me a specific purpose and part to play in your divine drama of redemption. Please, dear Father, help me value my place in your plan whether it seems large or small and help me to fulfill my role faithfully. I don’t want to envy the ability of others or minimize the gifts you have given me. May I bring you praise by living out the purpose you made me to accomplish. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
